Santiago is an Applied Data Fellow and Research Analyst for the Crime Lab and Education Lab focusing on the Policing Leadership Academy (PLA) and the Personalized Learning Initiative (PLI).

Before joining the Labs, he worked as a researcher in Colombia at the Laboratorio de Justicia y Política Criminal, and as Deputy Director of Public Policies at the Colombian Attorney General’s Office, where he led initiatives on organized crime and criminal justice policy. Additionally, he has served as a consultant and researcher, at the United Nations Development Program, the National Planning Department of Colombia, among other organizations and government units. Santiago holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, a B.A. in Philosophy, and a Master’s in Philosophy from the Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia, as well as an MPP from the University of Chicago with a specialization in Data Analytics.
