Oren Tirschwell

Associate Data Scientist

Oren Tirschwell is an Associate Data Scientist at the Crime Lab and Education Lab, where he leverages machine learning and data science to investigate education and violence-related outcomes. He is committed to making complex data more accessible and actionable for policymakers and the public.

His prior research includes a senior thesis examining the disconnect between empirical evidence and public perception around firearm safety in the home, with several resulting papers currently under journal review. Before joining the Labs full-time, Oren interned with both the Crime Lab and Education Lab, and held data science roles at the Bloomberg Center for Government Excellence, Teladoc Health, Advantage Capital, and NeighborShare. He holds a BA from Amherst College in Statistics and an interdisciplinary major he designed: Applications of Data Science to Public Policy.
